Una boda española - in England

On 1st June 2017 Lisa Roberts was married to Nicholas Lopez at the beautiful Pembroke Lodge situated right in Richmond Park, London. As you can tell from the title of this article and Nick's family name there is a Spanish connection. Nicks parents are first generation Spanish and Nick himself speaks fluent Spanish. I'm guessing the beautiful bride Lisa may have a Welsh connection with the Roberts surname. In any case it was a really lovely day, hot bright sunshine (photographers nightmare), wonderful setting and a football undercurrent.

The bride and her bridesmaids assembled in the nearby Richmond Gate hotel for bridal preparation and were made up by Zoe Enever for hair and Suzanne Dusek for make-up. It never ceases to fascinate me the artistic transformation that goes on as this process takes place. Nothing short of magic.

Then the ladies moved off to the grounds of Pembroke Lodge where guests were arriving and the business of getting married was soon underway.

Once the wedding was over and done with it was out onto the terrace for family formals and some fun stuff. As usual the children ran amok.

Speeches were planned and well executed. The football theme ran throughout with the occasional raucous Spanish cheers or possibly insults as I had no idea. The father of the bride read a clearly well rehearsed tribute in Spanish that seemed to go down well. Then he spent a great deal of time revealing his daughters misbehaviour at school and home. Then the Groom did his bit admitting he had stolen his script from the Internet. Finally the Best man Clemente (Nicks brother) revealed childhood rivalry and some innuendo that no one else really understood. Many of the guests had started to fall asleep by then as is evidenced in the first photo below.

Then it was onto the cake cutting and first dance. As usual at almost every wedding I have photographed I discovered children with the uncanny ability to levitate at will. There were at least two at this wedding. See if you can spot them.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Lopez. Blessings and have a great future.
